![]() This probably isn't worth the trouble, though. The easiest fix would be to transcode to /tmp and teach Plex to cleanup transcode files once they have been viewed, rather than at the end of a film. Doing so may result in program or OS instability. The tmp directory may contain useful files that you don't want to delete at arbitrary intervals. The problem can be solved by either adding enough RAM to cache to /tmp like Plex normally does (16GB or more in the case of some Blu-Rays), or by using something to empty /tmp. For example the audio channels setting below is 2 when using MEncoder but on my FreeBSd server using TsMuxer the setting is 6. By default, Debian empties /tmp each time the machine reboots. The rest of the conf file is not familiar to me - I dont know if some of hte settings are specific to the transcoding engine being used or if theyre generic. When MEncoder transcoding engine is used and UMS recognizes a PS3 compatible video it will switch to transcoding engine tsMuxeR. ![]() This is explained in the link for #2 as well.ģ. Both must be connected to exactly the same network. If you have 4GB of RAM and watch a 15GB Blu-Ray rip, Plex will crash in the middle of the film as /tmp fills up. If it doesnt identify your PlayStation 3, check your connection again. If you have downloaded the PS3 Media Server. The PS3 Media Server that you previously downloaded comes to use here. In fact, the PS3 actually fits best for this purpose. So as you watch a film, the transcode files really begin to stack up. What this also means is you dont need to deal with transcoding of videos, resulting in clearer picture quality. The only problem is Plex doesn't remove the transcoded video until you have exited the video you're watching. Debian can be easily made to run /tmp in RAM using tmpfs (which is already included in the OS). Mencoder settings: Common transcode settings: - UPDATE: v1.10.5 has improved Mencoder settings especially with subtitles, so no need to play with AviSynth priorities. Other Plex users have reported speed increases from caching to RAM. Some will play, and some won't.Okay, I found some stuff that may be helpful for making sense of this situation. It is just "mkv" that I am having problems with. I'm not too worried about the artwork anyway so doesn't matter too much, I just want to be able to play all video files to my ps3 and not see this annoying "Unsupported data" message keep cropping up. TVersity - (copied from existing guide - not updated due to emergence of PS3 Media Server as preferred streamer) TVersity is a free media server application which you can install on your computer to allow the sharing of media files. You'll need to have a fiddle to get things set up the way you want, but with a little bit of tweaking you can easily scale large videos back for older devices or do other things like add borders to. Since deleting the artwork, the program seems stable now. Under PS3 Media Server on your computer you will find a tab titled Transcoding Settings which corresponds with each of these transcoding options. I also had problems before with the program crashing, but after looking at the forums someone said they had problems with it crashing also but discovered it was to do with artwork. Also subtitles and audio language selection are supported. If I am to understand correctly, once a movie has been transcoded, it will automatically stream the transcoded version to the playstation 3 instead of the original file the next time you go to play the movie, but this is not the case as it continues to say "Unsupported data".Ĭould you please tell me how to fix this problem in an easy way? if you can help me with this, then I may purchase the full version to go alongside PS3 Media Server for all my streaming needs otherwise I can't justify the purchase unless this transcode/pretranscode stuff works. A DLNA compatible, fully transcoding, media server designed for serving media (movies, TV shows, music, photos) to DLNA compliant televisions and media players (Streamium, PS3, XBox 360). my PC still says transcoding and serving but mobo is stuck on loading. ![]() For some reason, I can't seem to play the stream of the transcode, nor can I return to the movie when it has finished transcoding the files. I then restarted the PS3 media server and reloaded upnplay and tried the video again. When I go to play a movie that is unsupported, the Ps3 says unsupported data, however Mezzmo begins to automatically transcode the file for streaming. Go into the PS3’s Settings menu and navigate to Network Settings Media Server Connection, and select Enabled. One of the main problems right now is that my playstation 3 doesn't appear to be playing the transcoded files. PS3MediaServer supports transcoding, a format conversion of media files, allowing you to play media files on your computer that may not be supported by PS3. I've been trying out your Mezzmo trial program and have been running into a few problems.
